A big thank you to all the PGA Professionals and golf courses that took the time to register on the Play Golf Minnesota website
for our second annual Play Golf Minnesota/Dakotas Week. It was a big success! Hopefully, throughout the summer, everyone that participated will see an
increase in participation at his or her own clubs. This year we had a 26% increase of courses involved in the week.

In the Past Masters division amateur Jerry Gruidl of Golden Valley CC finished at 5-over par 149 to win by two over Richard Anderson of Interlachen CC. The Stanton Group Minnesota Golf Champions is presented by TaylorMade adidas and Bushnell. Thanks to Bearpath Golf and Country Club and PGA Professional Kevin Cashman for hosting the event.

TWO TEAMS TIE AT LUTHER PRO-SERIES EVENT #1
The teams of Derek Stendahl and Aaron Jacobson of Rush Creek GC and Mike Barge and Dan Suedbeck of Hazeltine National GC each shot 8-under par 64 to tie for first in the Luther Pro-Series Event #1 at Saint Cloud Country Club. Five teams tied for third in the best ball competition at 5-under par 67. Thanks to Series sponsors Luther Automotive and Yamaha Golf and Utility and event sponsors Cutter and Buck, Srixon, Skycaddie and PGA Tour. Final Results.

Minnesota Governor´s Proclamation
The Minnesota Section PGA and the Minnesota Golf Association proudly brought you the second annual Play Golf Minnesota Week April 28 - May 4, 2008. The Governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty proclaimed April 28 - May 4, 2008 as Minnesota Golf Opener Week and Fox 9 News personality M.A. Rosko discussed the proclamation after an interview with Jock Olson, PGA professional, at Interlachen Country Club Monday morning.

The seven day event was filled with opportunities to start your spring golfing and spend a day outdoors on one of the Minnesota Section´s beautiful courses.

PGA MCGLADREY TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
2008 will mark the second annual PGA McGladrey Team Championship. After soliciting feedback from several PGA members and sections, a few changes have been made to next year´s edition.
Included in these changes are an increase in team handicap combinations, a guaranteed Section Championship purse of $15,000 and a bonus based upon last year´s participation by each Section.
The Section also has secured Troy Burne Golf Club to host the Section Championship on August 12, 2008. The National Championship will be held October 20-22, 2008, at Pinehurst Resort.

2nd ANNUAL SECTION MEDIA DAY A SUCCESS
Media Day winners Gregg Wong (retired) and Joe O’Brien from Minneapolis Golf Club
In the individual team competition retired Pioneer Press writer Gregg Wong paired with Joe O’Brien of Minneapolis Golf Club to
shot a 70 and win by a shot. Finishing second at 71 was the team of Pioneer Press writer Tad Reeve and Don Berry of Edinburgh USA Golf Club. Tied for third
at 72 were the teams of KFAN-radio personality Dan Cole and Kathy Swanson of Minneapolis GC and last year’s winner Kare-11 television reporter Scott Seroka and Dan Simpson of Minneapolis GC.
