MINNESOTA SECTION PGA AWARD WINNERS HONORED
The Minnesota Section of the PGA honored its Section award winners for 2007. Mike Malone, General Manager at The Ridges at Sand Creek was awarded Minnesota PGA Golf Professional of the Year for the first time October 29th at the Minnesota Section Fall Meeting.
The Steve Weidner Award is presented to individuals in the Minnesota Section who have made outstanding contributions to the game of golf and to their community. Larry Nelson of Braemar Golf Course was honored as the 2007 recipient.
PGA Teacher of the Year was awarded to Greg Schulze, Master Professional of Instruction at Loggers Trail & Sawmill Golf Course. The Horton Smith Trophy was awarded to PGA Member Doug Hoffmann, Master Professional of Executive Management, and Tournament Director for the Minnesota Golf Association.
Michael Zinni, Head Professional at Mankato Golf Club was awarded the Bill Strausbaugh Award. The PGA Junior Golf Leader Award was presented to Marshall Hoiness, Assistant Professional at The Minikahda Club.
The PGA President's Plaque was presented to Lori Money, General Manger at Rush Creek Golf Club. Assistant Professional of the Year was awarded to Kristen Nelson of Brackett's Crossing Country Club.
Minnesota PGA Facility Promoter's of the Year were awarded to, in the private facility category, Joe O'Connor, Northland Country Club, in the public facility category, Dan Dols, The Legends Club, and in the resort category Peter Kurvers, Dacotah Ridge Golf Club.
The Section also honored three outstanding individuals for their playing accomplishments in 2007.
Assistant Player of the Year was awarded to Kris Kroetsch, Assistant professional at Moorhead Country Club. Senior Player of the Year was awarded to Mike Barge, teaching professional at Hazeltine National Golf Club for the second time.
Don Berry, golf professional at Edinburgh USA Golf Club was awarded the 2007 Minnesota PGA Player of the Year for the thirteenth consecutive time.
