PGA Championship Clinics a Success
The Minnesota Section PGA and PGA of America conducted two clinics to over 450 people on Monday, August 10th at the PGA Championship at Hazeltine National
Golf Club in Chaska, MN. The PGA's youth Clinic took place in the morning at the Chaska Par 30 where over 300 were treated to a trick shot show from Honorary
PGA Memeber Dennis Walters. In the aftertnoon over 150 individuals attended a Play Golf America Day at Chaska Town Course where they were able to take a 10-minute lesson
from Section PGA Professionals and test new product from Titleist, Cobra, Callaway and TaylorMade. Thanks to the Minnesota Section PGA Professionals for their support of the
event and all of the volunteers who also helped.

Special Olympics Minnesota Breakfast a Success
The Minnesota Section PGA held a breakfast Tuesday, August 11th at the PGA Championship that benefitted Special Olympics Minnesota and the Section Foundation.
About 100 individuals attended the event that featured two-time PGA Tour winner Cameron Beckman as the guest speaker. Also in attendance were LPGA
tour member Michelle Redman, former Twins Ron Coomer and Tim Laudner, PGA Championship Tournament Director Michael Belot, Hazeltine National PGA
Professional Mike Schultz and Fox TV personalities Jeff Passolt and Ian Leonard. Special thanks to those in attendance for supporting the event.

HANSON WINS MINNESOTA GOLF CHAMPIONS
 2009 Champion Kane Hanson
Kane Hanson of Detroit CC shot a final round 2-under par 70 for a 54-hole total of 8-under par 208 to win his first Arthur J. Gallagher Minnesota Golf Champions title at Minneapolis Golf Club by five shots. Hanson started the final round tied with Clayton Rask of Monticello CC but birdies on two of the first three holes coupled with a bogey on the second by Rask led to a lead Hanson never relinquished. Rask finished tied for second with Adam Wynia of Willow Run GC five shots back at 3-under par 213. Finishing fourth at 2-under par 214 was Joe O´Brien of Minneapolis GC. Low amateur was Robbie Kelley of Minneapolis GC, who finished in a tie for seventh at 1-over par 217.
In the Past Masters division Bill Israelson of the Vintage GC shot a 36-hole total of 2-over par 146 to win by four shots over amateur Richard Anderson of Interlachen CC. Minnesota Section PGA Media Day

Paul Kelley & Tom Ryan
The third annual Minnesota Section PGA Media Day took place Wednesday, April 22nd at Minneapolis Golf Club in Saint Louis Park, MN.
Eighteen media personnel paired with eighteen Section Professionals and competed for the coveted Media Challenge Cup. The Print/Radio/Weather
team retained the Cup by virtue of a 4 1/2 to 4 1/2 tie with the Television/MGA Team.
In the individual competition, MGA representative Tom Ryan paired with PGA professional Paul Kelley of Bent
Creek GC to shoot a 2-under par 70 and win by one shot over Minnesota Golfer writer Joe Bissen and PGA professional Ben Meyers
of Medina G and CC. Finishing third at 1-over par 73 were Warren Ryan from the Minnesota Golfer and PGA Professional Dale Jones of Mendakota CC.
Special thanks to Minneapolis Golf Club for hosting this year's event and all the media personnel and Section Members that participated.

2009 MINNESOTA SECTION SPRING MEETING
Thanks to all of you that attended the Minnesota Section Spring Meeting, Awards Program and Education on Monday, March 30th. Over
200 Section members and apprentices attended the meeting highlighted by an update from PGA of America Secretary Ted Bishop. The
Section also honored its 2008 Section Award winners and provided an education program conducted by Mike Malaska from Jack Nicklaus Golf
Academies and Taylor Made addidas. Special thanks to PGA National Resort and Spa and GolfTec Minnesota for supporting the meeting.

2009 MINNESOTA GOLF SHOW
Thousands of Golf Enthusiasts attended the 2009 Minnesota Golf Show at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, MN February 20th - 22nd. Over 30 Section
Professionals provided over 80 hours of free instruction and the Section also provided information on 2009 programs including the Minnesota PGA Golf Card.
Section Professionals also supported the First Tee Three Rivers Junior Clinic held February 21st. Over 60 juniors attended the clinic led by 2008 Section
Junior Golf Leader Brian Pabst of Eagle Lake LC.
Thanks to everyone who attended and the Section Professionals who volunteered their time to make the event a success.
