 Larry Nelson
LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
January 12th we lost a great friend, family man, teacher and PGA Member...Larry Nelson. Larry lived his life with a smile on his face
and a positive attitude in his heart. This was presented at his service in a series of slides, stories by friends and conversations between the many
people attending the service. While at the service, one could not help but notice the many fellow PGA Members that were there to
show their respects. There were quite a few other golfers in attendance as well including his students, members from his golf
clubs, and also many sales representatives that were there to show their support. Seeing all of these people at the service
just makes Larry's saying of "Golf makes great people" come to life.
Nelson was a PGA Member since 1998 and had worked at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, MN the past ten years, where in addition
to giving lessons, he also ran the junior leagues. Before Braemar GC, Larry was the Director of Instruction for ten years at Rich Acres
Golf Course in Richfield, MN before the course was closed to make room for the Minneapolis/Saint Paul airport expansion.
Larry was a member of the Minnesota Section's Board of Directors (2001-2004) and also a member of the Section's Junior Golf
Committee since his election. He was honored with the 2000 Minnesota Section Junior Golf Leader award and the 2007 Steve Weidner Award,
given for his outstanding contributions to the game of golf.
We wish his family well and God bless you Larry.
