      <description>The Assistants Chapter of the Minnesota PGA once again raised funds to benefit the children of our communities through the Birdies For Bigs Program. A donation of $10 for every birdie made during the 2009 Assistants Chapter season will be made to The Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program of The Greater Twin Cities. We are happy to announce that this season a total of 486 birdies were made.</description>

      <description>A team of 20 Section Professionals defeated the MGA Amateur team 27.5 to 12.5 Tuesday, May 19th to retain the Cup in the 33rd Annual PGA MGA Cup Matches held at Bent Creek Golf Club in Eden Prairie, MN. Each team consisted of four women, four senior men and twelve regular division men. The MGA Team held the early lead, but the Section team was able to win 18 of the last 20 points possible for the victory. Swanson was also honored as the Sections Golf Professional of the Year, the first woman in the history of the PGA to receive such recognition within a section.</description>

His 54-hole total of 11-under par 205 was six shots better than runner-up Jeff Kringen of Spring Hill GC. Kringen posted the lowest final round with 3-under par 69.</description>

Tied for third at 4-under 140 are Michael Zinni, Mankato GC, and Craig Brischke, Tanners Brook GC.       <description>Professional Mike Barge, Hazeltine National GC, shot a final round 3-under par 69 to finish at 7-under par 209 and win the Minnesota State Open at Bunker Hills Golf Club by two shots over professional Ty Armstrong, Glen Lake GC. Barge and Armstrong, who shot 1-under par 69 and finished at 5-under par 211, were tied for the lead with nine holes to play but three bogeys over the next eight holes by Armstrong was the difference. Both players birdied their final hole.

Professional Don Berry, Edinburgh USA finished alone in third at 4-under par 212 after shooting even-par 72 in the final round. Adam Wynia, Prairie Green GC, was low amateur after shooting 4-over par 76 and finishing the event at even-par 216. Second round leader Adam Riddering shot a final round 4-over par 76 and finished tied for seventh at 1-under par 215.</description>
