For the last 10 years I have had the privilege of serving our Section. It all started when my first pro-am at Minnewaska GC was won by a team of sandbaggers. I had to get involved! It took 2+ years of pestering before I finally got on the tournament committee. Shortly thereafter I felt the call to get on the Board of Directors. These past 8 years I have served as your Northern Director, At Large Director, Secretary, Vice President, and now hopefully your President. I believe in a life of service and truly love our Section. I have been blessed to be a part of some amazing initiatives: 100 Holes for Hope, PGA HOPE, and the PGA Reach NYC Marathon team. We have one of the greatest sections of the 41 and I hope someday we will be regarded as the best. I promise that I will do everything I can to continue to grow the game and serve our members. Thank you for your friendship and support.
We have a lot of wonderful things going on in our Section and I feel that the past 25 years in the business have prepared me for this role. When I think about what is important to our membership, three things come to mind:
As I seek reelection to the board, I reflect on the progress we’ve made over that past two years. It has been a pleasure to serve as the tournament chair and work hand in hand with Tone, the sections staff and the tournament committee. We have found ways to get more members exempt into golf champions, grown the Twin Cities Open, increased purses through new partnerships and tournament participation is at an all time high. On the tournament front, if reelected, I plan on pursuing another social event that more members can participate in. It is my goal to find creative ways for each member to grow their personal network by providing more chances to meet section professionals. Our section is strong and filled with great people. It is a shame that we do not know everyone on a first name basis.
This past term has equipped me with valuable insights and experience that I believe are crucial for serving on the board. Our section and golf are both in a great place. It is time to leverage both golf’s popularity and our sections strength to provide more value to our members. If reelected, the most important question I will be asking no matter the topic will be “how does this benefit our members”.
I am excited about the opportunity to continue this journey; your support and vote is greatly appreciated.
